How do Vocal Chords Work? Check this out

Hello there,

One of the most frequent situations I find in my daily vocal coaching sessions in south florida is explaining how the human sound is produced and how it becomes singing.
When you think on the process of listening to a melody and singing it back is pretty magic. First the sound waves produced by the generator of the melody excite your ear bones and tympanum, that movement generates electric impulses which go to your brain and the brain makes all the calculations and gives the order to YOUR WHOLE BODY to coordinate muscles, air and bones to reproduce that sound.
Most of the fine tuning occurs in the vocal chords; there is where all the efforts of you whole body convey for the moment of truth, was the melody reproduced with precision or not.
Here's a video which illustrates the rate of vibration of your vocal chords. As a Delray Beach Vocal Coach I find these kind of media very interesting, as it helps my students to visualize what happens inside their bodies when they are singing.
